Otterly Great Birthday Slider Card

Another birthday card from the adorable My Favorite Things Otterly Love You stamp set.  This otter is diving down to retrieve a rock.

First, I cut the card front with the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 stitched rectangle.  I cut a second panel the same size to back the slider mechanism.  In the stitched rectangle, I also cut the slider track.  Then I stacked the two panels together and inked them up with my distress oxide inks.  I started with a small amount of the antique linen at the bottom for the sand.  Then I used the salty ocean and the peacock feathers until I liked the blend between the two.  I adhered the rocks at the bottom, I popped the middle one up with some foam tape.

 I stamped the otter and the rocks and colored them with my Copic markers (E33, E35 & E37 for the otter and CG01, CG03 & CG 05 for the rocks).  I fussy cut them out and went around the edges with a black pen to give it a finished look.  I put a scrap circle of paper under the slider element disk using mini glue dots.  I put the slider element disk into the track and then put another scrap circle of paper on top of the disk with mini glue dots.  I attached the otter to the top circle. I put foam tape between the two layers to make sure the slider mechanism had plenty of space to move.

 I finished it off by adding some of the seashells, stars and sequins from the seaside holiday sequins with the Ranger Multi Matte Medium.

Coffee Bean Shaker Card

Supplies: Whisper White Thick Cardstock 4 1/4 x 11 (scored at 5 1/2)  Coffee Break Designer Paper 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Crumb Cake Cardstock 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 Coffee Cafe Stamps & Dies Bundle Early Espresso Ink Pad Double Sided tape Tulle Coffee Beans First, using the larger cup die, I cut the opening in the Crumb Cake and Coffee Break paper (at the same time), then I adhered the designer paper over the Whisper White and inserted the die into the opening in the designer paper and cut the opening into the Whisper White.  I stamped the greeting from the stamp set onto the piece cut out of the Crumb Cake.  I adhered the stamped piece to the inside of the card base by putting it through the opening in the front of the card base to make sure that it was perfectly lined up.  Finally, the fun part, I put adhesive on the back of the crumb cake and put the tool into the adhesive.  I put as many coffee beans into the tool

Northern Lights Background

I have been experimenting with a Northern Lights background.  Scenes and backgrounds are not my strong suit, but I am trying to work on that.  I have made about 8 of these and have gotten to where I am consistently satisfied with the end results. I start out with twisted citron distress oxide ink and using a sponge daubers, I make streaks of color starting toward the bottom (I leave about an inch uninked) and moving toward the top of the card panel varying the length of the strokes. Once the card panel is filled with twisted citron, I do the same with salty ocean distress oxide ink, but leaving a border of the twisted citron showing.  I repeat the same process with wilted violet distress oxide ink leaving some of the salty ocean showing. I finish this part of the process with picked raspberry distress oxide ink at the very top. I make stars on the card panel with a white sign pen.  The final step is to make streaks over the distress oxi

Otterly Great Birthday Shaker Card

This was such a fun card to make.  I absolutely LOVE these adorable little otters.  I found the sequins and knew that I needed to make a shaker card with these little otters.  The main issue that I had was figuring out how to make the otters appear to be in water.  My idea was to use distress oxide ink on acetate, but I could not keep it from wiping off. So I decided to try embossing it with clear embossing powder.  It is hard to see it in the photo, but it looks a bit like they are in an aquarium.  Overall, I am very pleased with the final result.
